Alternatively, our poolside bar, which overlooks our swimming pool and manicured gardens, is a popular choice for those guests wanting to soak up the sunshine. Accommodation at Sundown Country Estate comprises of 42 twin rooms, 42 double rooms and 16 family rooms, offering a generous capacity of 242 beds – all featuring air-conditioning, satellite TV, tea/coffee making facility, mini-safes, hairdryers and in room telephones (communicate to the hotel reception or make an external phone call).
A variety of activities are available through the hotel. Quad biking, horse riding, mini-game drive, mountain biking, are just a few to mention – all of which are conducted on the 800ha reserve that the hotel is situated on. A comprehensive list of these activities can be obtained from the main reception at the hotel.
For most of our guests, the thrill of seeing Africa’s mighty Big 5 is the highlight of their experience whilst staying with us. Sundown Country Estate will also offer guests the opportunity to take part in either a mid-morning, afternoon or full day safari in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve. Guests will be transferred to the Pilanesberg Reserve whereby they will be greeted by their knowledgeable safari guide – ready to show them the magnificent fauna & flora of this impressive game reserve. The Pilanesberg safaris are conducted through a specific operator which has partnered with the hotel, ensuring that the guests overall experience and expectations are not only met but exceeded. Bookings are on a request basis and all information is obtainable from the main Reception at Sundown Country Estate .
The ever-impressive Sun City Resort which includes the Valley of Waves, Paragliding, golf at the world renown Gary Player GC & Lost City GC, crocodile sanctuary, and the Entertainment Centre, are all within close enough proximity for guests to enjoy.

Off-road segway tours are guided. It is a lot of fun and the Segway moves forward by balancing yourself, leaning forward to move forward and leaning back to stop. Helmets must be worn at all times. Bushveld safari – 2hr activity.

Cruise along the banks of
the Vaalkop Dam either early morning with coffee or late afternoon with
a cocktail. The dam offers a wide variety of bird species for your

Bush Walks - R85 Per Person
A bush walk does not have
to be guided as we have no dangerous game. It is however, suggested to
book a ranger for a walk to show you the smaller, more interesting
things in the bush
which you can only experience on foot. It’s a great activity

Mountain Biking - Free
The property is 450 hectares and have 23km of roads that can thrill any mountain bike enthusiast. A map of the property is available at reception. Please bring your own bike.

Luxury in a bush settingmaking for great a experience
The accommodation at Finfoot is outstanding. Up to 50 guests can be accommodated in shared units. Our air-conditioned chalets are furnished with en-suite bathrooms with both shower and bath facilities to provide maximum comfort while still retaining the feel of the African bushveld. Private and secluded, they offer the best of both worlds.
Bush Chalet – 4 sleeper
There are 8 Bush Chalets at Finfoot Lake Reserve each accommodating up two adults and two children under 12 on a sleeper couch. All the units come with ample storage space, a dressing table and two en suite bathrooms - one with shower and the other with bath. Air conditioning is provided indoors, while the private outdoor veranda offers view over the surrounding bush.

The luxury self-catering villa at Finfoot Lake Reserve offers spacious holiday-living with a large open plan fully-equipped kitchen, lounge and dining room area which opens up onto a wooden wrap around deck which has a medium size pool and braai area. Above the lounge area there is a loft with a timber deck overlooking the dam.

Finfoot Lake Reserve offers various accommodation options: comfortable chalets, stylish self-catering villas and luxury tents located close to the Vaalkop Dam, ideal for families and groups of friends celebrating a special occasion. The large thatched lapa serves as the main hub at Finfoot Lake Reserve. This open-sided, breezy building is home to the camp’s bar and cosy lounge areas where most meals are served. Descend a few steps out on to the sun deck, where there’s plenty of seating to sit back and soak up the view. The swimming pool is a popular spot for those looking to put their feet up with a cocktail or two.

MEET YOUR GUIDE
No need to feel lucky to spot some of Finfoot’s most sought-after bird species when you’re in the company of our secret weapon: Sarel van der Westhuizen. Known as our bird whisperer, or within the local community as ‘Sarel from Finfoot’, he has over 23 years of guiding experience under his belt, with over eight years at our reserve. He knows the environment intimately and his guided bird walks and tours are a highlight to any visit. Sarel also has a keen interest in photography and would love to help you refine your skills with the lens.
