Pilanesberg 1 Day Safari

South Africa Flag image  Springbok Atlas - +27 21 460 4700

Travel to the Pilanesberg Game Reserve. Enjoy a closed-vehicle game drive, seeking out the Big 5 in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve, which is abundant in various plains game and birds life, followed by a guided tour of the famous Sun City Resort. Sun City is not only a luxury casino and resort but is also a flagship structure associated with times during the Apartheid South Africa. Bordering this entertainment complex, you will find one of the world’s outstanding geological phenomena: a crater of a long-extinct volcano and the result of eruptions some 1,200 million years ago – the Pilanesberg Game Reserve. This area of 572 square km is not only home to most Southern African species but also home to the Big 5, namely lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard.

The Pilanesburg National Park is the fourth largest in southern Africa. Perched on the eroded vestiges of an old volcanic crater, the park is home to a variety of African wildlife.

The Itinerary
DAILY: PRIVATE DEPARTURES

06:00 Collection from Johannesburg based Hotel
Pilanesburg National Park

Depart Johannesburg in the early morning and transfer to the Pilanesberg National Park. The journey takes approximately 3 hours per way. Upon arrival, enjoy brunch at a restaurant inside the park before departing on a 2,5 hour open vehicle game drive with a qualified ranger. Afterward, meet up with your touring vehicle and continue with a drive through the park for the remainder of the day. Majestic hills encircle the park and a large central watering hole is ideal for game viewing. The park is found in the transition zone of the Kalahari and the Lowveld, and therefore both types of vegetation are found. Pilanesberg National Park is home to the Big Five and other large game including giraffe, hippo, zebra and crocodile, as well as an extreme diversity of birdlife (over 300 species have been recorded). A visit to the park is always rewarding! There are various hides and picnic spots where you may stop and stretch your legs. In the early afternoon, depart Pilanesberg National Park and head back to Johannesburg where the tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.
